Harry loses bid to name Murdoch in hacking claim

But the Duke of Sussex was granted permission to...

The Duke of Sussex has lost his bid to name Rupert Murdoch in his phone hacking claim against the publisher of the Sun.

However, Mr Justice Mann granted Harry permission to amend his claim to allege that the former News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks was involved in the alleged unlawful information gathering.

The judge also ruled that Harry can argue that voicemail messages were intercepted by "persons unknown" at News Group Newspapers, the publisher of the Sun and the now-defunct News of the World.

Harry is suing News Group Newspapers and its parent company News UK over the alleged hacking of his phone messages from 2005 to 2008.

He claims that the publisher unlawfully intercepted his voicemail messages without his consent.

News Group Newspapers denies the claims.
